Suggested Itinerary
Catch the Eurostar to Paris where your private transfer driver will be waiting to take you across to the Gare de Lyon. Here, board a high-speed TGV Lyria service to Lausanne and then take a connecting Swiss service along the shores of Lake Geneva passing vineyards and castles along the way.
The mountains dominate the skyline as you pull into the small town of Visp, where you transfer onto the single-track Matterhorn-Gotthard Bahn up to Zermatt. On arrival, check in at the impressive Mont Cervin Palace (or similar), at the foot of the iconic Matterhorn.
Zermatt is one of the most exclusive resorts in the Alps, popular on a year-round basis with skiers, hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts. The massive peak of the Matterhorn dominates the skyline – why not get a closer look by taking the famous Gornergrat Mountain Railway? Alternatively you may just choose to relax in the resort and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Today is the highlight of your trip, as you board the new Excellence Class on the Glacier Express. The famous train that travels the spectacular route from Zermatt through to St Moritz boasts, as of 2019, two new Excellence Class carriages per train. From the red carpet welcome at the platform to the champagne aperitif on board, you are treated to a multiple-course sumptuous menu served throughout the journey. On arrival into St Moritz, you are met and transferred to the Waldhaus Sils (or similar), where you have a 2-night stay.
Founded in Roman times thanks to its healing waters, the resort of St Moritz is known worldwide for its glitz, glamour and winter sports. The region, known as the Upper Engadine Valley, boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year. Shopping in the exquisite boutiques, taking a magical horse and carriage ride, or simply relaxing and enjoying the facilities of your hotel, how you spend your day is entirely up to you.
Today you bid farewell to St Moritz as you travel in First Class through the stunning landscape of eastern Switzerland, making your way to Basel where you connect back onto the high-speed line back to Paris. Again, you’ll be met by a private transfer driver who will take you and your luggage across to the Gare du Nord for your Eurostar service back to the the UK.
