Suggested Itinerary
Travel to Brussels by Eurostar, connect onto a German ICE train to the cathedral city of Cologne. Catch a glimpse of the mighty gothic cathedral before you connect with your evening ICE train to the capital, Berlin.
Check into the centrally-situated Titanic Hotel Chaussee (or similar) for a 3-night stay, and then perhaps head out for dinner in one of the vibrant districts close to the hotel.
You have two days to enjoy Berlin to the full. Explore its best-known sights including the Brandenburg Gate, the TV Tower, the Reichstag (German parliament), the Tiergarten park and the Berlin Wall Memorial. Take in the excellent German History Museum, and the DDR Museum, which chronicles life in East Germany.
Spend the evenings in the many bars and restaurants around Hackescher Markt, the glitzy Kurfurstendamm or head out to the popular suburbs of Prenzlauer Berg or Kreuzberg. Ask our team for more recommendations!
Depart Berlin in the morning and head west out of the capital, across the plains of the former East Germany on a line that was once used for transit traffic between West Berlin and the British sector in West Germany. With the same easy platform changes at Cologne and Brussels, you will be back in London comfortably the same evening.
TMR RECOMMENDS: Why not combine Berlin with another city? Prague is only 5 hours away, Warsaw 6 hours away, or you can stop off in Cologne (pictured) either on the way to Berlin or on the way home. Ask the team for more details.
